Sunk into a sofa in the waiting area near gate 61 at Montreal international airport, I’m trying to concentrate on my book and ignore the television behind me blasting news about… Twitter?

Yes, traditional media love to talk about new and social media, and all the inherent changes in the way we communicate and live, work and do business… The topic has also been the core of (print) books by Montreal’s top web marketing experts lately, including Mitch Joel, president of Twist Image, who recently launched Six Pixels of Separation, already a best-selling non-fiction book.

There must be some kind of irony as to why someone who is so passionate about blogging, podcasting and Twitter would write a traditional business book… or, maybe not. Mitch will be our guest speaker for the next 3e mardi | Third Tuesday event on October 20 and will explain the story behind the book and the concepts behind the notion of Six Pixels of Separation. In a world where everyone is connected, how connected is your business?

This will be an inspiring and fun opportunity for anyone involved in marketing, PR or communications to find out where they stand and how to further connect with their publics.

I missed the beginning because of the last minute change of address, why don’t you use an online management service such as http://www.amiando.com/ ?
This way if something pops up at the last minutre… you will be able to notify everyone interested by the event.

Hello Pierre

Firstly, to you and everyone who had difficulty manoeuvering our last minute venue change this evening, my apologies. The situation was unfortunate, but luckily our organising committee is filled with people who know how to come through in a crunch and we were quickly able to secure a second location. We would have been heartbroken to have to cancel this event with Mitch Joel.

We immediately sent the venue change out through our networks (forgetting our own blog!), and were lucky to have such a strong group of people well connected enough to retweet and to repost Facebook messages in an attempt to get the word out to as many people as possible. We also dropped by the original venue and posted signs indicating the venue change.

Although I’m sure that it was probably inevitable that we will have lost a few along the way this evening, I’m still hoping that everyone who wanted to make the event was indeed able to get the message in time to attend. The 70 or so people in the room seemed satisfied, so I hope that it was worth the inconvenience.

To those who showed up at the Daylight Factory this evening and turned away rather than heading further south to the Auberge du Vieux Port, please accept my sincere apologies. I hope you’ll come out to our next Third Tuesday, which will be held at the Daylight Factory on Tuesday November 17th.
